Page Settings
Last updated
The sidebar on the right of the page form holds settings for where a page appears and how it’s found: its place in the menu, its web address, redirects and, on some sites, search engine (SEO) settings. Select a heading to open its panel. If you don’t see the sidebar, select the sidebar button at the top right of the form.
Menu Settings
Add the page to your site’s main menu:
- Open Menu settings and turn on Provide a menu link.
- Link title is the text shown in the menu. It starts as the page title; shorten it if needed.
- Under Parent, choose the menu section the link goes under. Another list appears for each level below it, if you want to place the link deeper.

Pages without a menu link are hard to find and appear in the No Menu Content Report.
URL Alias (the Page’s Address)
With Generate automatic URL alias on, the page’s address is built for you from its place in the menu and its title, for example /services/pool-hours. If you change the title or move the page in the menu, the address updates when you save, and on most sites the old address redirects to the new one.

To choose the address yourself, turn the switch off and type it in URL alias, starting with a slash, such as /pool. Keep it short, lowercase and without spaces.
URL Redirects
A redirect sends visitors from another address to this page, for example from an old page’s address, or from a short address printed on a flyer. When you edit a page, URL redirects lists the addresses that lead to it.

Select Add URL redirect. In Path, type the address to send visitors from (without your site’s name), such as pool. To is already this page. Leave the other settings as they are and select Save.

SEO (Search Engine Settings)
Some sites have an SEO panel. Type a Focus keyword, the words people would search for to find the page, such as “pool hours”. The panel then shows how the page could look in search results, and suggestions to improve it, such as using the keyword in the first paragraph. The suggestions are advice, not requirements.

Details
Details shows when the page was last saved and who created it. Use Revision log message to describe your change. See Revisions.
Tips
- Keep menu link titles short: one to three words.
- Leave the automatic address on unless you need a specific one, such as an address printed on a flyer. For that, a redirect is often better.
